About the Author
Benke Carlsson is a photographer and author living in Stockholm, Sweden. He is one of the men behind the biggest web site on Scandinavian street art. Carlsson is the author of the books Street Art Stockholm and Swedish Punk 1977-1981. He is the founder of the PR firm Publik and a well known lecturer and educator within communication and culture.
Hop Louie is a street artist living in the UK. He has worked in public spaces, mainly with stickers and posters, since the late 90s. In 2009 Hop Louie made the illustrations for the CD /book Boven i Dramat together with rapper Max Peezay. Hop Louie is also featured in the book Playground Sweden (2007, Dokument Press).
The internet site Wooster Collective was founded in 2001. The site is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating ephemeral art placed on streets in cities around the world.

long on pretty pictures, short on useful info.

This book was ultimately a disappointment. Know that if you truly wish to DIY your own stickers, stencils, screen prints, or posters, you're going to have to rely on information on the internet, so you might as well bypass this book and go straight to researching. This book is a great overview of the methods used in contemporary street art, but it is not comprehensive or detailed enough for a beginner to get all of these things done. The title of the book should be less "COOKBOOK" and more "SUPERFICIAL OVERVIEW", 'cause that's what it is.

A gift for my 27-year old nephew...

He has requested a copy for his birthday. Looked through it once it arrived and I was surprised by how small it was. He was very happy to be gifted the book. He said he had seen it for sale at Sam Flax for 40 bucks...glad to have gotten it for much less on Amazon.

Great, but wishing for more.

A very interesting book on street art. Great pictures, mini-bios on artists, and some variations on the theme - that is, other than simple spray painting. The only reason I gave it just 4 stars is because it left me wanting to see more. Fatten up the book. Great examples. I liked the characters represented - could use more. More on sticker art, etc.
