Buy it if you have to, not if you don't.

A necessary evil for some of us. There are a lot of errors in the book and some of the 'facts' are just plain wrong, so you may spend a lot of time fact-checking it. There is also a lot of conjecture and speculation in the infectious diseases chapter - they could cut it down by 75% if they stuck to what we know - and some important veterinary infectious diseases are missing.

I find McGavin to be one of the best pathology books

I am a Jubb and Kennedy man myself, however, I find McGavin to be one of the best pathology books. Sometimes it will leave things to be desired since it doesn't go as deep as I would like but it does a great job setting up pathology by introducing the anatomy and physiology of the organ systems the chapter will cover.

Good for veterinary student's library

Kind of a must for veterinary students. The only thing is that when looking up some pathologic processes you have to look in various areas of the book, it's not all in one place which would be more convenient. There are also some questions that the book doesn't answer in a few cases did this book not go into enough detail as I would have liked. Does a good job explaining most areas of normal physiology and pathology and includes pictures and diagrams which help since I am a visual learner. Like I said kind of a must but definitely don't have this be your only resource for pathology
